CLEANING – PAVILIONS – LAUNDRY

Become a volunteer at Cité Saint-Pierre, by joining the Housekeeping, Pavilions or Linen department: an essential mission in welcoming pilgrims to Lourdes!

Household

The Housekeeping department ‘s mission is to ensure and guarantee the cleanliness of common premises.

The missions 

  • Clean toilets, rooms and other areas where pilgrims are welcomed
  • Check that volunteer rooms are clean and tidy
  • Support the Laundry and Pavilions team as needed

Qualities and skills required 

Autonomous, well-organized and able to manage priorities
Sense of direction
Sense of hygiene and cleanliness
Teamwork skills
Good physical condition

Special constraints 

Standing
Sustained and repetitive physical effort
Imperative discretion and confidentiality regarding the cleanliness of volunteer rooms

Pavilions

The mission of the Pavilions department is to welcome and inform pilgrims in their accommodation. It also ensures the upkeep and cleanliness of the premises.

The missions 

  • Welcome and settle pilgrims in their rooms
  • Ensure upkeep of common areas
  • Clean pilgrims’ rooms
  • Ensure a continuous presence
  • Reinforce the housekeeping and laundry team as needed

    Qualities and skills required 

    Autonomy, good organization and management of priorities
    Smiling, welcoming, attentive, caring and available
    Discretion and respect for confidentiality
    Teamwork
    Sense of hygiene and cleanliness
    Good physical condition

    Special constraints 

    Sustained and repetitive physical effort (material handling)
    Long working hours
    Irregularity of activity (busy and slow periods)
    Adaptation to unforeseen events and changes

    Lingerie

    The Linen department is responsible for washing and distributing linen to all departments.

    The missions 

    • Use washing, drying and ironing machines
    • Distribute and collect laundry
    • Prepare laundry carts
    • Sort linen
    • Ensure proper tidiness of linen room
    • Strengthen the Housekeeping and Pavilions team on an as-needed basis

    Qualities and skills required 

    Autonomous, well-organized and able to manage priorities
    Sense of hygiene and cleanliness
    Team player
    Good physical condition

    Special constraints 

    Standing
    Sustained and repetitive physical effort (material handling)
    Noise and heat from machines
