CATERING – COMMISSARY

Become a volunteer at the Cité Saint-Pierre de Lourdes, by joining the Catering or Bursar’s Office: a meaningful and fraternal mission!

Catering

The catering department ‘s mission is to ensure that meals are served and catering areas are kept clean and tidy.

The missions 

  • Serve meals and hot drinks
  • Clean catering areas
  • Sort waste
  • Sort, wash, wipe and store dishes
  • Wash and store cookware

Qualities and skills required 

Smiling, welcoming, friendly and available
Autonomy, good organization and management of priorities
Team player
Sense of hygiene, cleanliness and safety
Good physical condition

Special constraints 

Long working hours and fast pace
Noise and heat from machines
Standing work
Sustained or repetitive physical effort
Irregularity of activity (busy and slow periods)

Subject to strict hygiene rules 

Volunteers may be refused access to the service if the following rules are not observed:

  • Wearing of apron and cap MANDATORY (provided)
  • Closed shoes and pants MANDATORY (not provided)
  • Hair tied back, nails clean, hands MANDATORY washed before starting shift

Commissary

As part of the Purchasing function, the Commissary department is responsible for placing orders, receiving deliveries and replenishing stock.

The missions 

  • Check and receive deliveries from suppliers
  • Store goods in appropriate stockrooms
  • Prepare and deliver kitchen and service orders
  • Prepare, set up and clear away coffee breaks, aperitifs and snacks requested by groups of pilgrims or visitors

Autonomous, well-organized and able to manage priorities
Rigorous application of procedures
Sense of hygiene, cleanliness and safety
Good physical condition

Special constraints 

Sustained or repetitive physical effort (handling)
Work in cold rooms
Irregularity of activity (busy and slow periods)
Adaptability to unforeseen circumstances and changes
