OUR MISSION TODAY

Cité Saint-Pierre’s mission and vocation: a commitment to serving the most vulnerable pilgrims at Lourdes.

The vocation of the Cité Saint-Pierre

In the heart of Lourdes, the Cité Saint-Pierre is much more than a welcoming home: it’s a space for mission.

Driven by the vocation of Secours Catholique, it opens its doors to pilgrims living in precarious situations, in order to spread Christian charity.

Here, everyone can express their human and spiritual wealth.

Driven by the spirit of Diaconia, Cité Saint-Pierre is also a place for sharing experiences and putting fraternal service into practice.

Training courses, work sessions and partnerships with associations complete an activity that is always focused on concrete action (towards the most disadvantaged).

"Do not neglect hospitality, for some, in exercising it, have welcomed angels without knowing it."

Hebrews 13:2

The art of entertaining!

 Who's welcome?

Cité Saint-Pierre is primarily intended for pilgrims who, for financial reasons, are unable to stay in traditional hotels.

It is also a place of welcome for Secours Catholique, international Caritas, Church movements and various organizations with a social vocation.

It also welcomes people committed to helping others, such as those in the Diaconie or hospitalités.

 Who's hosting?

Cité Saint-Pierre is run by volunteers, who each year devote between 10 days and three weeks of their time to welcoming pilgrims.

Some twenty permanent staff (salaried employees) coordinate the volunteer teams.

Since its creation, Cité Saint-Pierre has been home to a religious community and a chaplain, who provide a prayerful presence.
